Tony Eckford

So now you have a third choice - should you believe in the silver spoon boy; be conscious of the criminal; or watch the eloquent one as a third member of the team. The background to driver number three is that he is well-travelled, experienced in 60 countries, and international jetsetter and business leader who occasionally find time for a "Sunday Spin" around the track.

Bought up and educated in the North East of England, where a barbecue is only cancelled when the temperature gets below -20, he was driving Sunbeam Tigers in rallies and races for many years. Having acquired his first Sunbeam Tiger in 1970, he thereafter rallied extensively for a three year period prior to the arrival of his family.

Driver Profile
Moving onto the present day, he has managed to pluck a pristine condition road car out of California to convert into a rally Tiger and to agreeing to buy a Le Mans racing car from Rick Marks in Sydney, Australia. Over recent years Tony has competed in British & European Rally Championships and long distance events, including the classic marathon to Marrakech in 1995. In 2002, Tony competed in some 15 races to obtain his international license and was able to compete at Le Mans in the classic event where he put Chris Beighton's engine through its paces.

Interests

So there you have it - one things is for certain, we have different points of interest and background with a common delight in sharing competitive motor sports, specifically Sunbeam Tigers but not excluding other marks or types of motor vehicle.
